In Texas, retired restaurateur Dorina Corrente was defrauded and induced into contract by D R Horton. DHI Mortgage baited her into her home contract with a promised low 4.25% interest rate. That rate suddenly ballooned to an unaffordable 9% immediately before closing. After she quickly and desperately secured more reasonable financing elsewhere, she moved in and discovered that there were construction defects, namely mold and standing water around her foundation.
